The Cootamundra Meals on Wheels service delivered its first meal on the 28th of March 1966 to 6 clients.
Almost six decades on, we now deliver more than 1300 meals each month to more than 100 clients. Cootamundra Meals on Wheels offers clients freshly cooked hot meals 6 days per week.
The meals are delivered by our friendly volunteers for your mid day meal. The service also offers a wide range of nutritious meals from our frozen menus.
Our service delivery covers the township of Cootamundra, but our network extends into the surrounding villages of Wallendbeen, Stockinbingal and all points in between.
Our frozen meal deliveries are made once a week. Alternatively, frozen meals may also be collected directly from our premises by yourself, a family member or CARER if you prefer.
Cootamundra Meals on Wheels delivers services and support with a strong focus on Wellness & Reablement.
We promote each clients' opportunity to maximise their independence, autonomy and capacity and quality of life by:
- providing opportunities for each client to be actively involved in addressing their goals;
- focussing on retaining or regaining each clients' functional independence; and
- building on the strengths, capacities and goals of individuals.
We are a not-for-profit organisation managed by a volunteer Management Committee which meets bi-monthly.
Day to day operations are carried out by paid staff with the assistance of our valuable volunteers.
We are funded by the Department of Health under the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP).
